Welcome to the premiere edition of insight, a weekly write-up for teenagers for the purpose of enlightening teens on God’s plan for their lives and also to help them to handle various situations they go through everyday. Kids might be the future but teens are the immediate future, so I strongly believe that teens of whatever age or class must take themselves serious. God bless you as you read.
Today we’re going to be looking at true repentance. True repentance has been widely misunderstood by different people.
Nowadays people tend to believe that if they sin they can always ask God for forgiveness. This is true but the problem comes when people begin to believe has they can take God for a ride and then start to do the wrong thing on purpose under the “God will always forgive me” mindset…..and they keep on sinning but here’s a shocker- those people aren’t really asking God for forgiveness and they think they are…that means they are on their way to hell without even knowing it. You might not believe me but here’s why.
As you will soon see repentance is in three levels. You must do all three before you can say you’ve truly repented, they are;
ü Heart acknowledgement: you must first accept it in your heart that you’ve done was truly wrong.
ü Secondly you must say you’re sorry with your mouth for what you’ve done to God and whoever’s involved.
ü Then lastly you must prove to God that you’re sorry by changing your ways….II chronicles 7:14
In other words, repentance isn’t just what you say but what you do after what you say. And that’s how to truly repent…pretty simple isn’t it but if you think the process is too long then don’t sin- of course you need God’s grace and a lot of hard work for that. Now jokes apart I want you to think deeply about what II chronicles 7:14 says…..it says;
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (KJV)
Now if you look closely, you’ll see that God said IF my people will humble themselves (that’s step 1) and pray, and seek my face (step 2) and turn from their wicked ways (step 3) THEN I will hear and forgive them. God said IF you follow these steps then he’ll forgive you. So if u don’t He won’t forgive you, it’s that simple. That means the concluding step, the final step, the step that completes the repentance cycle is to “TURN FROM YOR WICKED WAYS”. Without this step, your repentance is incomplete.
TASK; Think about all the bad things you’ve done without repenting properly and repent now……GOD BLESS YOU
